About ‘The Occupiers’

The occupiers is the brain child of singer/songwriter Thang Kim (Htan Kein), who studied music at the Academy of Contemporary Music. He became the first Burmese to achieve BA (Hons) Contemporary Popular Music Degree from the UK. Kim works with various musicians as to express freedom of creativity. Kim’s music is original with full of energy, excitement, meaningful lyrics and catchy melodies.
Kim has played and/or recorded with a number of diverse and notable musicians including Zaw Win Htut, Saung Oo Hlaing, Tun Eindra Bo, L Sai Zi and Ye` Lay. The occupiers got involved in raising $10,000 for the victims of Nargis Cyclone on the performance of Temptation 3 (Live in London) in August 2009. His band also got involved in many other fund raising concerts for Nargis and Chin famine victims.
He is currently being undertaken PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) course, which allows him to teach ‘Music’ in the post compulsory sector (16+) in the UK. He currently divides his time between live gigs, studio work, teaching Music privately and also at Westminster Kingsway College near Kingscross Station in Central London. He is also working on another recording project and continues to develop additional guitar instructional products for young musicians.
